SFC Levens was born in Dallas, Texas. He entered the US Army in 2004 as a Human Resource Specialist and attended basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky and later Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. SFC Levens was assigned to his first duty station at Fort Carson, Colorado in December 2004.

SFC Levens assignments include Fort Carson, CO: 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchu), 502nd Personnel Services Battalion, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Fort Sill, OK: Echo Battery, 1-19th Field Artillery Regiment (Drill Sergeant). Fort Riley, KS: 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Engineer Battalion. Garmisch, Germany: George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Center. He also has two Combat Tours in Iraq and 2 Operational Tours in Kuwait and Korea.

SFC Levens military schooling includes the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Army Basic Instructors Course, Transportation of Hazardous Materials and Unit Armorer Course.
