Master Sergeant (MSG) De La Cruz is a native of Lansing, MI. He entered the US Army on November 16, 2006 as a Cannon Crew Member and attended one station unit training in Ft. Sill Oklahoma then to Ft. Benning, Georgia for Basic Airborne School. Upon Completion of Basic Airborne School, MSG De La Cruz was assigned to his first duty station in Fort Lewis, Washington on March, 2007. MSG De La Cruz has served in every Cannon Crew member position from Number One Man to Platoon Sergeant and the Artillery Master Gunner for 2nd Brigade Combat Team 82nd Airborne Division. He also served as 1SG for C Battery 1-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment. Furthermore, He served as a Basic Leaders Course Instructor and Senior Small Group Leader with Fort Bragg Non Commissioned Officers Academy.

MSG De La Cruz’s assignments include, but are not limited to, A Battery 3-17 Field Artillery Regiment Fort Lewis Washington, A Battery 2-321 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment FT. Bragg NC, XVIII Airborne Non Commissioned Officers Academy Ft. Bragg NC, A Battery 2-319 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment FT. Bragg NC. C Battery 1-319 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment FT. Bragg NC. 1SG De La Cruz has been deployed to Afghanistan (2 tours).

MSG De La Cruz’s military education includes the Basic Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course, the Master Leaders Course, the Small Group Instructor Training Course, Basic Instructor Training, the Fires Master Gunners Course, Transportation of Hazardous Materials, Field Sanitation Team, Basic Airborne School, Uniform 6, and the Jump Master Course.

MSG De La Cruz’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal 2nd Award, Army Commendation Medal 3rd Award, Army Achievement Medal 7th Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, Valorous Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon 4th Award, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 2nd Award, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He has earned the Senior Parachutist Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He is also a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

MSG De La Cruz has been married for 14 years to his wife Samantha from Eglin Air Force Base, FL. They have 3 children Isabella(13), Madelyn(9) and Isla(8).
