CPT Shannaya K. Davenport was born in Fontana, California. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps.
Upon completing CBRN Basic Officer Leadership Course, CPT Davenport was assigned to the 23rd CBRNE Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Stanley, Korea in October 2013. She served as a Decontamination Platoon Leader, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer. CPT Davenport’s next assignment was Fort Sam Houston, Texas with the Warrior Transition Battalion, where she performed as Company Executive Officer and Company Commander of Alpha Company prior to attending Captain’s Career Course. In December 2018, CPT Davenport was assigned to 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) where she served as the Brigade CBRN Officer. CPT Davenport deployed with 1/25 to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from September 2019 – May 2020 where she served as the TF-I Battle Captain. From July 2020 – September 2021, CPT Davenport commanded HHC, 70th Brigade Engineer Battalion.
CPT Davenport’s military schooling includes the Antiterrorism Officer Course, Chemical Captain’s Career Course (CCC), Equal Opportunity Course, Warrior Transition Unit Training Course, Combative Level 1 and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Basic Officer Leadership Course. CPT Davenport’s civilian education includes a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, as well as a Masters of Science in Environmental Management from Webster University.
CPT Davenport’s awards include the Army Commendation Medal with C-Device, Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.
